Since the Eye Shop of the Filmmuseum in Amsterdam wants to switch to sustainable, plastic-free products, they asked us to design a soft toy for them that is loosely based on the character Totoro from the Japanese animation film by Studio Ghibli My Neighbor Totoro (1988).

The result is Miru, a small animal in a fantastic forest with gigantic trees. Up from the highest treebranches she watches over the forest and its inhabitants. In Japanese, Miru (見る) means ‘to look’ and this verb is related to the Japanese word for ‘Eye’ (ç›®). This soft cuddly toy is exclusively developed by Kaplum for Eye Filmmuseum.
